Cambodia, country in mainland Southeast Asia. Cambodia is largely a land of plains and great rivers and lies amid important overland and river trade routes linking China to India and Southeast Asia. The influences of many Asian cultures, alongside those of France and the United States, can be seen in the capital, Phnom Penh, one of a handful of urban centers in the largely rural country.
The Kingdom of Cambodia, formerly Kampuchea, is a Southeast Asian nation that borders Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and the Gulf of Thailand. The capital city is Phnom Penh.

The flag of Cambodia symbolizes the country’s slogan: Nation, Religion, King. The two large blue stripes represent royalty and the center red stripe represents the nation. The image of the white temple stands for the nation’s religion.
Theravada Buddhism is the prevailing official religion in Cambodia and approximately ninety percent of the population is Buddhist. Islam, Hinduism and Christianity are also embraced in Cambodia.
Since Buddha statues and images represent the revered Buddha, visitors are asked to treat all such statues and images with respect, so as not to offend local people.
In Cambodia, regardless of religion, the country maintains a harmonised state.
Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy with a multiparty democracy. The king is the head of state, and the prime minister is the head of government. The current Prime Minister is Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.
Cambodia’s economy that currently follows an open market system (market economy) and has seen rapid economic progress in the last decade. Cambodia had a gross domestic product (GDP) of $28.54 billion in 2022. Per capita income, although rapidly increasing, is low compared with most neighboring countries.

As a member of ASEAN, Cambodia connects investors to over 600 million consumers and benefits from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), providing access to 2.3 billion consumers, nearly a third of the global GDP.
The robust growth has been supported by macroeconomic stability, openness to trade, large inflows of foreign direct investment, strong tourist arrivals, and a structural shift toward export-oriented manufacturing
